DIGITAL INNOVATIONS FOR EASINESS

Jakarta, 7 December 2016 – News website detikcom in partnership with PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) hold a talk show titled Inovasi Digital untuk Kemudahan (Digital Innovations for Easiness). The talk show features Marketing Director of Grab Indonesia Mediko Azwar and Product and Value Proposition Head of Jenius Irwan Tisnabudi.

Based on the 2016 internet survey results by the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), the total number of internet users in Indonesia has reached 132.7 million, up 51.8% compared with the corresponding figure in 2014. This figure shows that there is ever greater internet penetration in Indonesia and also demonstrates the increasing role that the digital world plays in people's lives.

One way in which the digital world enhancing people’s lives, can be seen in the transportation sector. Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading platform to order transportation, notices and is able to accommodate people’s needs of a simple, fast and safe transportation solution. “Grab really strives to differentiate itself from similar applications by providing a safe and reliable transportation platform which is also available to everybody – which we can reach everybody by utilizing hyperlocal technology and strategy,” said Mediko.

Digital innovations are also taking place in the banking world. With its vision to change the lives of millions of Indonesians, BTPN believes that digital innovations are crucial in facilitating people to perform easy and safe banking activities.

To address this need, in August 2016 BTPN launched Jenius. Jenius is a revolution in the banking sector that includes the digitization process from the beginning. With Jenius, users can open accounts, set card limits, block and unblocks cards, as well as manage their finances independently using either an Android or iOS-based smartphone.

“Jenius is a digital banking innovation for the consuming class segment which is synonymous with urban and technologically savvy people. This application changes the way people do their banking significantly by introducing unique features, such as $Cashtag, Send It, Split Bill, Pay Me, Dream Saver and Visa e-Card,” Irwan explained.

$Cashtag is a feature turns customer’s name into an account number. Send It is a feature for transferring money to bank accounts, cellphone numbers or email addresses – all in just three easy steps. Pay Me is for sending money requests. Split Bill is for splitting bills with friends or family members. Dream Saver is for helping customers to make their dreams come true by automatic daily savings.

Jenius also comes with a Visa debit card for retail transactions worldwide and it is connected to a national banking and international payment system networks. One of these is the Visa e-Card which allows its users to perform online shopping transactions.

“We really hope that Jenius is not only seen as a life finance management application, but also as a tool that can change lives, as well as help urban and technology savvy people to manage their finances in a simpler, smarter and safer way without compromising their lifestyles in any way,” said Irwan in closing.
