Bank BTPN Partners with Syailendra Capital as Newest Investment Manager through Jenius App

This collaboration brings five flagship mutual fund products from Syailendra Capital.

Jakarta, August 12, 2024 - Mutual funds are becoming increasingly popular and are now one of the top choices for domestic capital market investors. This is reflected on data from the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) as of June 2024 that shows there were 12.3 million mutual fund investors (around 94% of the total number of capital market investors in Indonesia). This figure increased by more than 115% compared to that in 2021 and is expected to continue growing as the investment climate in the domestic market is becoming more mature. However, according to data from the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) in 2022, financial literacy and inclusion, especially the capital market, is still low.

Furthermore, assets under management (AUM) or gross domestic product (GDP) in Indonesia is among the lowest at 3.7% (compared to the average figure in ASEAN that reaches double digits). Moreover, according to the latest data released by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), as of August 2024, financial inclusion dropped to 75.0% (vs. 2022: 85.1%) despite an increase in literacy to 65.4% (vs. 2022: 49.7%).

This condition underscores the importance of the collaboration between PT Bank BTPN Tbk (Bank BTPN) and investment manager Syailendra Capital to enhance capital market literacy and inclusion, particularly in mutual funds. This partnership is marked with the onboarding of Syailendra Capital as one of the investment managers accessible on the application of Jenius from Bank BTPN.

Syailendra Capital's Chief Executive Officer, Fajar R. Hidayat, said, "The growing number of mutual fund investors indicates a positive trend. This should be welcomed by industry players through, among them, a collaboration and the provision of investment services that are easily accessible, safe, and reliable. This is the driving force behind the collaboration between Syailendra Capital and Bank BTPN."
