BTPN Presents LATAR, an Art Space at BTPN Sinaya Branch

Jakarta, 9 March 2017 – With its vision of changing the lives of millions of Indonesians, PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) understands that its customers have diverse needs. This includes BTPN Sinaya customers who come from the affluent segment.

In an effort to address these diverse needs of its customers, BTPN introduces an innovation at the BTPN Sinaya branch called LATAR. LATAR is an art space at the BTPN Sinaya Branch located in Menara BTPN, Jakarta which serves to showcase the artwork of Indonesian local artists. In addition to enjoying the artworks on display, customers can also use LATAR as a space for socializing.

The launch of LATAR takes place at the same time as the inauguration of the BTPN Sinaya Branch in Menara BTPN today, Thursday 9 March, 2017. “LATAR has been designed as the front yard of BTPN, and acts as a space in which customers can meet, mingle, and interact with each other. As an art space at our branch, LATAR is sure to create a positive atmosphere for customers who perform their banking activities,” said BTPN Director Anika Faisal.

At the launch, LATAR will present the installation artwork of renowned artist Heri Dono. The public will get to enjoy Heri Dono's artwork at the BTPN Sinaya Branch in Menara BTPN from March 10th to May 10th, 2017. On occasion, LATAR will also display the works of other artists. The artworks to be exhibited will encompass a wide range of artistic disciplines, such as photography, design, handicrafts, painting and numerous other art forms.

As part of the launch of LATAR and the inauguration of the BTPN Sinaya Branch in Menara BTPN, English language newspaper The Jakarta Post teams up with BTPN to host an event called Meet the Post – Self-Healing with Art and Empowerment, at which various methods of expressive therapy as a way of self-healing were discussed. This talk show features as speakers a psychologist who specializes in art therapy, Monty P. Satiadarma, along with BTPN Director Anika Faisal.

In his presentation, Monty explains that art therapy is a means of treatment which uses the visual arts. The visual arts are art forms in which creations and ideas are presented in two dimensions, such as drawing, painting and photography, as well as three dimensions, such as ceramics, sculpture, beadmaking or accessories.

“Even though the understanding of art in general includes music, performance art, dance and other things, the Art Therapy Association confines the notion of art to the visual arts. Art therapy is a channel for expressing the personal dynamics of individuals, which may be affected by psychic energy - including expectations and conflicts - and revealing them through media projections. If a person is experiencing emotional turmoil, they can express these volatile emotions through a process of catharsis by drawing or painting,” Monty explained.

In addition to art, another means of effective self-healing is by sharing knowledge with others. According to Monty, the sharing of something positive with other people not only has great benefits for these other people but also for ourselves.

BTPN, through BTPN Sinaya, offers an opportunity to all savers and depositors to enjoy an experience of first-hand sharing and interaction with mass market customers through the Sahabat Daya program.

“Sahabat Daya is a program that invites all BTPN stakeholders to participate directly in empowering the mass market. Through this program, we can share knowledge, provide inspiration and engage directly with mass market customers,” Anika pointed out.

BTPN Sinaya is the funding business unit of BTPN. The term ‘Sinaya’ is an abbreviation of the phrase ‘sinar yang memberdayakan’, or lights of empowerment. BTPN Sinaya not only offers first-rate personal service with optimal results, but also provides customers with the unique opportunity of participating in our mission of empowering millions of Indonesians.

It is worth keeping in mind that all the funds collected through BTPN Sinaya are entirely distributed to low-income people, as well as micro, small and medium entrepreneurs, by means of loans disbursed through BTPN's other business units - BTPN Purna Bakti, BTPN Mitra Usaha Rakyat, and BTPN Mitra Bisnis.
