PRESS RELEASE: BTPN OPENS KENDARI BRANCH

Unique Value Proposition: “Be the Pensioners’ Best Friend”

KENDARI - On Monday, 22 November 2010, PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BPTN) has officially opened a branch at Jl. Drs. Haji Abdullah Silondae No. 135, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. Vice Governor of Southeast Sulawesi HM. Lasata Saleh has officially opened the branch that will be dedicated to serving pensioners, witnessed by Ongki W. Dana, BTPN’s Deputy President Director.

Ongki explained that the new branch is the 468th branch dedicated to pensioners, out of the 1,044 BTPN’s branches that conduct online, real time operations throughout the country, from Aceh to Papua. Ongki added that the branch opening in Kendari is an important part of the Bank's strategic plan to further expand its business while extending the Bank's contribution to the development in Southeast Sulawesi through its intermediary function manifested in the collection of public funds and the provision of credit facilities.

Ongki also affirmed that BTPN has been focusing on pensioner and Micro & Small Enterprises (MSE) segments under its division known as btpn mitra usaha rakyat (MUR). "With the pension segment being our main business for more than 52 years, MUR is aimed at increasing the contribution to the national economic development through MSE empowerment. We believe that the pension and MSE segments in Southeast Sulawesi carry huge potential," declared Ongki. BTPN currently serves more than 550,000 pensioners and more than 250,000 MSE customers.

Ongki further explained, "BTPN has opened MUR branch in Kendari in April 2009. Currently, BTPN MUR has 1 branch and 5 sub-branches. And in line with its commitment, the Bank recruits Human Resources from the local areas, as the manifestation of its concrete contribution to the development of the regions where it operates."

Regarding the opening of the pensioner-dedicated branch today, Ongki explained about the Unique Value Proposition of BTPN’s pension business. "We serve by becoming the pensioners’ best friend." A best friend is a friend who is willing to always understand, to help, and to give solutions to all the problems faced by their friends. As the best friend, the Bank does not only offer financial solutions to pensioners, but also it cares and provides the best service," said Ongki.

BTPN’s concern for the pensioners is reflected by its program called the Pension Health & Wellness Program (Pensiun Sehat & Sejahtera - PSS), which aims to promote healthy living by avoiding illness in order to achieve a longer life, and to encourage positive living perspective of physical and mental / spiritual health.

PSS program consists of three pillars: first, the Information Center that provides a variety of health information; second, the Consultancy Program that conducts health seminars at BTPN’s offices on a regular basis by inviting expert speakers; also included under this pillar is medical consultation with doctors held at BTPN’s offices on the first several days of the month. The third pillar offers the opportunity to do business by combining information dissemination and entrepreneurship training to help pensioners and pre-pensioner to start and manage their own business. "By far, PSS at 141 BTPN offices have benefited more than 300,000 pensioners,” Ongki affirmed.

The Bank’s unique strategy has been warmly welcomed by the pensioners since not only they gain access to financial solutions, but also BTPN provides them with the opportunities for growth, i.e. a life that is healthy and well.

"We hope the presence of this branch will get us closer to our customers, especially the pensioners in Kendari and surrounding areas. Strategic branch location and premium service are expected to be the solution to the needs of pensioners," Ongki closed his speech.

BTPN recorded Rp 577.5 billion in net income for the third quarter of 2010, an increase of 117% over Rp 266.2 billion of the same period in 2009.
