Daya Fest 2023, a Manifestation of Bank BTPN's Commitment in Empowerment for Sustainable Development

Jakarta, 12 December 2023 – Bank BTPN once again held the 'Daya Fest 2023' festival which will take place on 12-13 December 2023. Carrying the theme 'An Empowerment for a More Meaningful Life', Daya Fest 2023 events acts as a manifestation of Bank BTPN's commitment in implementing sustainable development, which cannot be separated from the participation of external stakeholders who do business or interact with Bank BTPN, as well as providing education to broaden understanding of sustainability topics for the community.

“The Daya Program from Bank BTPN is a manifestation of Bank BTPN's vision to provide meaningful change for millions of Indonesian people. The presence of Daya Fest, which is an annual routine activity, is a celebration of empowerment aimed at turning empowerment activities into a movement," said Bank BTPN Compliance and Legal Director Dini Herdini.

She explained that the Daya program is one of the Unique Value Propositions (UVP) or unique values owned by Bank BTPN. Bank BTPN defines empowerment as an effort to build community capacity, raise awareness of their potential and strive to develop that potential into real action, where this real action will contribute to national development.

Since 2011, Bank BTPN has been committed to building a sustainable business. Daya now has 4 pillars; Personal Capacity Development, Financial Literacy, Increasing Business Capacity, and Sustainable Living. Bank BTPN's intensive digitalization is focused on increasing efficiency and sustainable integration in economic, environmental, social and governance aspects in business decisions.

This ongoing commitment is also reflected in the series of events at Daya Fest 2023. Firstly, Bank BTPN presents an Empowerment Festival where participants can also take part in workshop sessions in waste sorting seminars. This is motivated by the fact that paper waste management in Indonesia is still not optimal. "Referring to the data from the Ministry of the Environment (KLHK) for 2020, every year Indonesia produces 34.5 tonnes of waste and 12% of this waste is paper. Of this amount, 43% of paper waste is still unmanaged. "In fact, the industry's need for paper and plastic waste reaches 7.6 tons per year," said Dini.

Through this workshop, Bank BTPN also socialized two waste management initiatives. These include 'Reuse' by using paper or newspapers to wrap gifts or used cardboard to store goods or wrap products when shipping. The second initiative is to 'Recycle', namely separating paper or plastic from other organic and inorganic waste so that it is not contaminated with water and organic materials, then it can be converted into various forms of new paper or plastic products.

Practically, Bank BTPN also inaugurated the placement of waste sorting bins which will then be placed on several floors in the BTPN Tower, including the ground floor and 27th floor. The used goods that have been collected will then be taken by environmental activist organizations that have been invited to collaborate.

Not only about sustainable business, Bank BTPN is also presenting the annual 'Selendang Mayang' bazaar as a form of appreciation for customers and MSMEs assisted by Bank BTPN. This time the Mayang Shawl will be presented offline on 12-13 December 2023 on the floor of the public area of the BTPN Tower. By continuing to promote a sustainable concept, Selendang Mayang visitors are also invited to get involved in the movement to collect plastic bottles, cans, paper and cardboard waste that can be recycled.

"We hope that Daya Fest 2023 can be a small, concrete action to keep the earth we live in sustainable for future generations. Starting from small actions, it is hoped that eventually it will become a habit and can inspire people around us, our environment, and the wider community. "Bank BTPN will also continue to strive to uphold sustainable principles in every step of the business we undertake, in order to create a more meaningful sustainable life for millions of people," concluded Dini.
