EMPOWERING PROSPECTIVE PENSIONERS BTPN and the Government of North Sumatra Sign an MoU on Entrepreneurship Training

MEDAN – 30 September 2014. PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of North Sumatra, on Tuesday 30 September 2014.

Through this MoU, BTPN will play a role in providing retirement preparation briefings to civil servants, in the North Sumatra Provincial Government sphere, who are on the verge of retiring.

By means of this briefing and mentoring program, both parties expect that the prospective pensioners will be better able to prepare themselves for their retirement years and, as such, will be able to continue living a prosperous and healthy life, both physically and mentally.

“We believe that many prospective pensioners really wish to be active when they are no longer working, but many of them don’t know how, or lack the confidence, to get started. BTPN is here to assist and guide them, so that they are better prepared when entering their retirement years,” said Ongki W Dana , Deputy President Director of BTPN.

Ongki explained that the empowerment of all these prospective pensioners is being carried out through the Daya Program. The briefing program for these active civil servants, who are soon to become pensioners, is focused on the following four targets; self-development; management of finances; development of plans; and implementation of plans. “This program represents our effort to explore the interests of prospective pensioners, as well as foster an entrepreneurial spirit among them. We are optimistic that this goodwill initiative on our part will garner a positive response,” Ongki continued.

The Daya Program is a measured and sustainable mass market empowerment program that encapsulates the Unique Value Proposition (UVP) of BTPN. Daya is applied in three of BTPN’s business units, namely BTPN Purna Bakti— the business unit that focuses on serving pensioner customers, BTPN Mitra Usaha Rakyat (MUR)— the business unit that focuses on serving micro & small enterprise entrepreneurs, and BTPN Sinaya – the funding business unit of BTPN. In addition, Daya is also applied in the BTPN subsidiary BTPN Syariah, which focuses on serving productive poor communities.

Daya can be enjoyed by all BTPN customers, who consist of pensioners, micro & small enterprise entrepreneurs and, last but not least, productive poor communities. The Program is divided into three main activities. These are Daya Sehat Sejahtera (Daya Prosperous and Healthy), Daya Tumbuh Usaha (Daya Business Growth) and Daya Tumbuh Komunitas (Daya Community Growth). Through Daya, customers get a range of benfefits, including learning how to manage their finances, how to manage their businesses, how to do marketing, and how to manage their staff. Customers are also taught how to live a healthy life and keep fit in their twilight years.
