BTPN'S NET INCOME INCREASES 32.1%

Jakarta - PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) recorded net income of Rp 323.2 billion for Q3 2008 or an increase of 32.1% as compared to the same period in 2007.

"We are pleased with such significant increase in profit, which was the result of the hard work of all our employees," claimed Jerry Ng, President Director of BTPN in the press release broadcasted on Monday (27/10/2008).

As of 30th September 2008, operating profit totaled Rp 504.3 billion or grew by 35% over the same period in the previous year.

The significant increase of operating income was mainly contributed by the increase of net interest income that went up by 36.8%.

In the period between September 2007 and September 2008, the Bank generated lending growth of 34% with total loans amounting to Rp 10.116 trillion, disbursed to the pension market.

The growth in lending was also complemented by lower NPL ratios, as gross NPL stood at 0.77% and net NPL at 0%, compared to gross NPL of 1.9% and net NPL of 0.32% as of 30th September 2007.

"As the significant increase in lending was always safely guarded by the application of prudential banking practices, both assets and credit were maintained at good quality," disclosed Jerry Ng. (FDT: www.detik.com source)
