Empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) through Digital Technology


Jakarta, 2 May 2018 – PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) and Tempo Media Group held a talk show called Ngobrol@Tempo with a theme of “Empowering Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) through Digital Technology”. The event presented the CEO and founder of Javara Helianti Hilman and BTPN Daya Head Andrie Darusman, as well as Tempo.co Director Tomi Aryanto as the moderator.

 

In his presentation, BTPN Daya Head Andrie Darusman explained that with the focus to serve and empower the pensioners, MSME and the productive poor community segment, BTPN believes that customers do not only need access to financing to improve their welfare. Customers also need training and accompaniment to have a better life.

 

Therefores since 2011, BTPN has developed the sustainable and measurable empowerment program to increase the customers’ live capacity through the Daya Program. Daya Program has become a unique value proposition (UVP) that makes BTPN different from other banks.

 

“Daya has been applied to all BTPN business units and its subsidiary BTPN Syariah, as part of integrated business model. Daya training and accompaniment program is not limited to financial programs but also tips on improving their businesses, expanding their market network, serving customers and other things such as living a healthy lifestyle,” Andrie said.

www.daya.id has various features including Tips and the Latest Info containing of information on practical articles on business and health; Online Training consisting of modules in short videos and presentation slides by experts in business and health; Ask the Expert which facilitates question and answer session by experts; Business Opportunity which consists of business and franchise information sources for those looking for business opportunities; as well as Success Stories which comprise inspirational stories from business in gaining success.

 

At the same event, the CEO and founder of Javara, Helianti Hilman said that she believes in the need of training and accompaniment to his business partners who mostly are farmers and traditional food makers. Through training and accompaniment, farmers and traditional food makers can create better quality products as well as improving their businesses in a sustainable way.

 

Those MSME also need to get promotion and marketing access so that they can promote and sell their products to a wider market. One of the ways that Helianti has done was taking those farmers and food makers for workshops, demos and joining domestic and overseas events.

 

“To improve the quality of life of farmers and food makers in Indonesia, we are targeting their products for export markets because the international price is very good. Therefore, they need to make products that are internationally recognized and better promotion,” Helianti said.

 

With the development of digital technology, Helianti encouraged MSME to use social media and e-commerce in promoting and marketing their products. She said that digital technology today was the easiest and cheapest way for MSME businesses to promote and market their products.
